France: Paris and the Cote D'Azur
My sister Renee traveled with my students and me for two of my student tours -- in 1980 and 1977. I"m not sure where in France we were at this time, but I just love the look!PARIS
AVIGNON
This is Renee in the couchettes on the overnight train from Paris to Avignon!
NIMES
We visited the Roman Theater in Nimes.
ARLES
Taking a rest in the Roman ruins. I'm not sure I would let one of my guests do the same!
AIX-EN-PROVENCE
Here Carolyn and our guide are just "horsing around," but I think someone else on the trip enjoyed his company even more! Just saying!
NICE
The Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Nice -- St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral -- was a gift from Russia's Tsar Nicholas II and is the largest Russian Orthodox Church in Western Europe.
EZE
Eze, in the French Riveria, is famous for its view of the sea!
MONACO
Monte CarloMonaco was beautiful, but the casinos were off limits!
A few more pictures...
Little did I know that 30 years later this would be a very common position for me!
We stopped for a final dip in the Mediterranean Sea before flying home from Nice.
Travel Companions: Carolyn Foronda, Renee Brenner Devantier, Terri Casey Stark, Cindy Hannon, Donna Banks, and other students
